Pre & Post Care

Neurotoxin

  • This treatment is not recommended if you have an important event within 2 weeks of injection due to potential for bruising.

  • Avoid herbal supplements such as Ginko, green tea, fish oil, Vitamin E, turmeric and anti-inflammatories (including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, oral steroids) of any kind for 2 weeks before and following treatment to limit bruising.

  • For the first 4 hours following neurotoxin, remain in an upright position.  Also avoid rubbing, touching or manipulated the treated area.

  • Do not participate in activities that include heavy lifting, vigorous exercise or straining for the rest of the day (it takes time for the neurotoxin to bind to the nerve and you do not want to increase circulation during that time).

  • If bruising occurs it can last up to several days to weeks. Using/taking Arnica prior to the treatment and following may help diminish the risk of bruising and the duration of bruising.

  • It may take up to 14 days for neurotoxin to take full effect.

  • A follow-up visit after 2 weeks can be scheduled if full correction is not achieved.  Additional charges may accrue.

  • Re-treatment is typicallys suggested every 3-4 months.

  • Regular injections usually yield a longer lasting  results.

Pre & Post Care

Dermal Filler

  • Avoid dental work 4 weeks prior to and after all dermal filler to reduce infection risks.

  • Avoid all vaccines 4 weeks prior to and after all dermal filler to reduce inflammatory response.

  • Bruising is normal. To reduce risk, avoid all blood thinning medications and alochol 5-7 days prior to your appointment. If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Cold compresses or ice pack can also be used to reduce any swelling, itching or discomfort.

  • Avoid touching the treated area for six hours. After that, light makeup can be applied and the area can be gently washed with soap and water.

  • Do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold for at least two weeks.

  • Immediately after the treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is usually temporary and generally disappears in less than 6 hours after injection into the skin and less than 1-2 days after injection into the lips. Occasionally the initial swelling after lip treatment may last longer. Occasionally some patients experience swelling for about a week and the lips can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Cold compresses or ice pack can also be used to reduce any swelling, itching or discomfort.
